A-Level Physics Live 13th November 2024
The A-level physics students made a trip to Westminster on Wednesday for the A-Level Physics Live study day. The venue was very impressive with its massive auditorium in a church. The day was packed with exciting talks from five eminent physicists and a session on exam technique from an A-level examiner. Highlights included Dr Emma Chapman’s lecture “First Light: The birth of stars”, a fascinating introduction to the universe. One mind blowing fact was that if the history of the universe was presented as a year, the entirety of human evolution would happen in the last minute. Another popular talk was by Prof. Jim Al-Khalili, who spoke about the nature of time and how it can be stretched, squeezed and maybe even reversed. It was a great opportunity to think about physics outside of the curriculum and consider how we might explore physics after A-level. Sophia, Year 12
