Year 9 Latin drama workshops

22nd September 2025

On the 16th and 17th September Year 9 Latin students took part in the workshops which were run by "Actors of Dionysus" company. Their focus was on the Trojan war as part of Classical Civilisation studies as well as Drama. Really enjoyable experience! Thank you to Mark and Tamsin!

Student comments:"I thought that the Latin drama workshop was very useful to learn more about Greek mythology and to refresh my knowledge. I thought that it was a very interesting and fun way to learn Latin whilst learning some drama skills too. I will definitely recommend it!"(Alayna)

"I really enjoyed learning about how the Chorus moves in Greek theater. I like that we actually got a chance to act and put our learning to use. My favourite part was playing Hecuba, the Queen of Troy in the opening scenes of "Trojan women"(Hana)

" The Latin workshop was very interesting. I enjoyed doing the drama/poetry groups because it seemed cross-curricular. It was open for discussion and a joke sometimes. We were learning things and enjoying ourselves at the same time which I think is a great way to gain knowledge. Some things were emotional. It showed a more historical side to Latin.
